Chico Bags are here!
Curb your consumption!
Chico Bag

It may seem strange for someone to get excited about a small nylon bag that is basically a reusable bag. I have many different reusuable bags and I like them. The problem is that I am not very good at remembering to bring them with me and they therefore stay at home and don't serve their function - to reduce the need for plastic or other less reusable bags.

I have owned a Chico bag for about a year. My Uncle gave me one last Christmas and as his gifts usually are, I have found it to be useful and makes my life better in small ways. How can a small nylon bag make my life better you wonder?

I almost always have my Chico bag with me because it packs into a very small pouch. If I stop at a store on my way home from work, it is in my bag ready to go. It is a great size that holds a LOT of stuff and up to 20 lbs.

The question that I expect people will ask is, why would I spend $4.99 on a reusable bag when I can spend $0.99 on the same thing. My answer to that is, you aren't buying the same thing! The Chico bag is strong, durable, washable and with you when you need it.

Other notable things to consider with the Chico bag: they are produced by a fair wage, fair labour manufacturer in China; when there is no life left in the bag, you can send it back to be recycled into door mats, dog beds and prayer flags; there is a one year warranty; I can't believe you don't own one yet.

Nemo Tents are here
Bart says...
Nemo Tent

Our camping and hard goods buyer, Bart, has been testing a new tent by Nemo called the Morpho AR. Bart says: "It's really cool." Expanding on this comment, Bart says:

The Morpho is the fastest set up tent I have ever used. I go to all the shows and I set up all tents I consider. If you try, you can get the set up time under 45 seconds. This is achievable because, instead of fiddling with traditional poles, the structure comes from tubes of air.

The tent is small and light. This two person tent is a comparable size and weight to my solo tent. It is more field reparable that other tents without adding weight. They are strong and durable and give full weather protection.

The single wall construction to the shoulder keeps the size and weight down. The smart design of two wall construction above the shoulder means that there is ample ventilation meaning comfort when it is hot outside and little or no condensation when it is cool.

Some people will find that they miss the vestibule, but I didn't miss it. There is a feature called the Exofly that allows you to store gear during the day with coverage for rain and I find there is ample room in the tent for gear.

Highlights from using the tent are being able to stargaze and the comfort of knowing that you aren't going to get wet in a storm. It has performed really well for me in several storms. One of my best memories was coming into camp just as it started to rain, laying out the tent, pegging it and then getting in to pump it up. The looks on the faces of those putting together more traditional tents in the rain was priceless!

Who is this tent for? Most of the buyers thus far have been backpackers, people going on a cycle tour and serious canoe trippers.

Has it been years since you rode a bike?
Trek Lime

Swap the four wheels for two on the new Trek Lime. It's good for you and good for the environment. The lime bike is part of a cooperative effort between Shimano and three bicycle manufacturers. A coasting bike is for all. The bikes don't actually coast but have three speeds but shift "automagically." The new bikes are designed to be simple, fun and easy to ride. If this sounds like a bike you'd like to try drop in to Wild Rock and take one for a spin. Here is what trek says about there lime: a well- designed classic look and a natural heads-up riding position. Auto shifting lets you ride at your own speed. It's the perfect neighborhood bike, a great alternative to the car. Puncture-proof tires that eliminate flats. And fun color "peels" that fit your personal style. Rediscover the fun of riding with Trek Lime.
