Want to get in some serious riding this year, but don't feel like driving all the way to Mt Tremblant yourself? This year's Mt Tremblant Ski and Snowboard Trip is just the thing! Departing 5pm, Friday February 6, and returning the night of Sunday, February 8, 2009, this trip gets you to the hill and accommodated for two full days of riding, for just $250/person. The only ice-scraping will be Junior's misadventure down the Expert run.
Our overnight hosts will be Comfort Inn and Suites, Ville Mt Tremblant, a short shuttle ride from the resort. Rooming is based on 4-person occupancy, with two Queen-sized beds. Cots are available from the front desk. Single and double-occupancy are available for an additional $150 and $40, respectively. Spaces are limited and preferred partnering is available upon request.

| The Update on Kieran and Dee's Solar Situation
It was with a sense of relief that I read my December PUC statement. A new little line down at the bottom of the first page brought a long-awaited smile to my face. For those of you who have been following along with my Solar Rooftop stories you will know that this process has taken quite some time. (scroll to the bottom of this article to read the original articles) To recap briefly, Dee and I started thinking about a grid-tied solar generation system almost a year ago. By the end of July we had the financing dealt with and an array of panels were installed on our roof. I thought we were weeks away from coming online but things did not go according to plan. Lost applications, back-ordered meters and few other details got in the way. Now, as most of you know, we were well aware that we were going into this process as guinea pigs. As the program was so new, we expected that there would be delays. Well, delays there were! As the months ticked past even we faithful guinea pigs started to get concerned. In October a new meter appeared on our house but it did not seem to be reading our outgoing energy production. A call to the Peterborough Utility Service ensured me that they could read my production even if I could not. Although this left me reassured (kind of) it was not until our December bill showed up that I had confirmation. That new little line showing credit for our electrical production was what I needed to see in order to put my mind at ease.
Looking more closely, the bill shows that we generated $60 worth of electricity in October, which is historically the lowest solar production month of the year. In contrast, the electricity portion of our bill was just under $90. If you take into account that we buy our power through Bullfrog, which is about $1/day more than buying from the PUC, were would be very close to break even on the electricity portion of our hydro bill. And that is on a poor production month! I can't wait for July when the sun shines for hours and we don't even need the lights on! Our investment and long wait look as though they will all be worth it. Once again, I would like to thank Simon and JP at Generation Solar for all their hard work, advice and reassurance. Many of you have expressed interest since I wrote the first article. I know I can answer questions now that I could not before I got my latest bill. If you are interested in any further information please don't hesitate to get in touch with me here at the store or at kieran@wildrock.net Below are links to my previous two articles detailing the process we went through, the government incentive program as well as how we financed the system. The links go to previous newsletters so just scroll down until reach the Solar Rooftop articles. http://www.wildrock.net/newsletter/august08news.asp http://www.wildrock.net/newsletter/september08.asp <http://www.generationsolar.com>
Yours in green power!
