A Plan Comes to Fruition |
|
I have met many people in the last few years that seem to recognize my name. They usually say something like, "You send me emails," and I have to admit that I do. You may have noticed that the name has changed this month on the sender of the Wild Rock newsletter. Here is an explanation of why.
Well, I have had a good run here at Wild Rock as editor of the newsletter and whatever else it is that I do. My card says Office Manager and Miss Fixit. That seems to mean whatever needs doing. Successes? Meeting so many wonderful staff and customers doing amazing things, traveling, new and crazy sports, as well as old and fantastic ones. I have rediscovered the joys of riding a bike, learned how to skate ski and reacquainted myself with the idea of running as something other than a form of torture. Needless to say I am a healthier and happier version of myself for being a part of this crew.
I have had amazing support through the inevitable ups and downs of life and more recently, incredible support for going back to school and pursuing a new career, which brings me to the reason for writing. I am starting a Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto this fall. I could never have done this without the help of the management and staff at Wild Rock. You are awesome and a thing to behold. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
For friends and family who have supported my efforts by reading over papers, making me wonderful meals, making me go for a bike ride, ski, dog walk, as well as listening to whatever I had to say, I can't ever thank you enough. I look forward to more of the same if I haven't worn out my welcome.
I would also like to mention that I experienced some excellent teaching at Trent in the few courses I needed to move on to my next adventure. We are lucky to have access to such a great academic experience right here in Peterborough. Thanks also to those students who helped me through. It was an honour.
It is hard to believe that this day is here. It feels like a huge privilege to be going to school full time again after so many years. I look forward to bringing my learning back to Peterborough with me when I finish. I still plan on being around on weekends and seeing many of you when I ride my bike or ski at Kawartha Nordic. I hope that the 'go out and play' motto sticks for me and for you.

| Italy Trip 2011 |
No rant this month... although I do find myself grumbling about the path we are on economically. It is going to be an interesting couple of decades as our world starts spending what it earns as opposed to what it can get on credit. Apparently World, Federal, Provincial, Municipal leaders and lot of the general public have not taken heed of my messages in my rant over the last 5 years!!!
But this rant is not a rant; this rant is a celebration of 21 Canadians returning alive, mostly healthy, satiated and humbled from our Italy Trip in late July.
