Wild Rock is very pleased to announce it is growing its travel side of the business again.  This past year we have been working hard in the background on a number of projects.

Wild Rock is now a registered TICO Travel Agent and Wholesaler.  This process was both educational and enlightening.  We learned a lot about how to become better travel providers.  This process involved a dozen of our staff passing their exams to become registered travel agents.

If you were wondering what TICO was…

The Travel Industry Council of Ontario’s mission is to promote a fair and informed marketplace where consumers can be confident in their travel purchases. We also support the mission of the Ontario Ministry of Government and Consumer Services to maintain a fair, safe and informed marketplace as it relates to Ontario’s Travel Industry Act, 2002.

We accomplish this through developing high standards and efficient, effective and relevant regulatory mechanisms in areas such as:

  • Consumer protection.
  • Consumer education and awareness.
  • Registration, inspection, supervision and discipline of registrants.
  • Investigating and mediating disputes between consumers and registrants.

Wild Rock is happy to add travel interruption, cancellation and medical insurance through Manulife.  This compliments our overseas cycling trips.

Although Wild Rock can manage almost everything for cycling trips we still do not book airline tickets.  We are very pleased to announce we are working closely with locally owned Carlson Wagonlit Stewart Travel.  Not only can Laurie book your flights but you can now use your RBC Rewards to pay for the Wild Rock Tour and/or your flight!  You can book Wild Rock trips one of 3 ways.  Via Wild Rock’s on-line site , by dropping by or phoning Wild Rock or by booking through a Stewart Travel agent where you can use you’re RBC Rewards.

Our Barbados trip last February enjoyed rave reviews so for this year we are adding one night, riding a little more and keeping Chef Dane Saddler and the fabulous Santosha Resort.  This trip offer a great winter cycling getaway and almost guarantees heat and sun!  It was a real hit for the cyclist who wants to get away but their partner is not so keen on a cycling trip.  There is plenty of time for cycling and plenty of things to keep the other half happy.

We of course have not just been pushing paper in the basement but we have also been dreaming up and organising some great new trips.  Kieran has spent time and energy nailing down a great March 2017 trip to Girona, Spain.  Just outside Barcelona, Girona has become a training epicentre for the pro cycling peloton for good reason.   Easy access from the airport, great roads, stable weather and a great mix of food, drink and culture for that critical off the bike portion of your cycling holiday.  Join Kieran next March for this if you want to get some early season miles in.

We have moved our Mallorca trip to Easter in April this year.  Better weather, same great roads and different time of year for those who found March break problematic.

Wild Rock will be enjoying its 25th year in business and Scott and Kieran will be in their 50th year on planet earth.  What a great time to plan another mountain epic adventure.  Two years ago we did a trans-Pyrenees route.  It was hard, it was fun and it proved to be a bucket list item.  This year we will add the Italian Dolomites.  This route takes in the best climbing in Italy, Passo dello Stelvio, Gavia, Mortirolo, Giau and Zoncolan to name a few.  Get yourself trained up for August 2017 and join us in Italy.

Not last and not least we are doing a Woman’s only Trip to Tuscany in October 2017.  Fabulous food, wine, friends and cycling.  What could be better?
