Kingdom Trails Mountain Bike Trip

Kingdom Trails Mountain Bike Trip

Looking for a great getaway on your mountain bike? Once again Wild Rock heads back to the legendary Kingdom Trails network for a fantastic time on the dirt!

Located in the North East Kingdom of Vermont, Kingdom Trails offers some of the best mountain biking available in North America.

Kingdom Trails is rated in the top 10 places to visit in North America for mountain biking. The area plays host to hundreds of knobby tire enthusiasts each year, and for good reason. The trail network offers over 140 km of single track, providing options for all cyclists (from beginner to expert). The trails are located on the east and west faces of a large moraine. The ascents are forgiving, and the descents seem to go on forever.

The small farm-town feel of East Burke, VT, really makes you feel relaxed and at home. The mountain bike culture of the area sets the stage for a great trip.

The Wildflower Inn, located at the top of East Darling Hill, will be our home for three nights. The Wildflower Inn is the ideal location as it is located in the heart of the trail network. This allows us to start and finish rides right from home. This mountain bike friendly B&B is fully equipped with bike storage, bike wash, a full service bike shop, and café.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Breakfast is at 8 a.m., where we will enjoy a hearty Vermont Country breakfast to prepare for the day of riding ahead. The first day of riding will cover the majority of trails that the Kingdom Trails XC network has to offer (approx. 45-60 km). We will experience all the fan favourites like Sidewinder, Troll Stroll, Kitchell, and many more.

Day 2 Kingdom Trails is comprised of two distinct and somewhat different riding areas. Today we will set our sights on riding some of the trails Burke Mountain has to offer. Riding single track from the Wildflower Inn down into town we will earn our turns with a 4-5 km fire-access road (paved) climb of about 11%. From there, gravity and momentum will do the rest! We will make our way back to the Wildflower Inn via trails like Moose Alley, Sky Dive, Nose Dive, and White School.

Wild Rock Sportive

The Wild Rock Sportive

Date: Saturday, July 7, 2018

Registration Deadline: ***Pre-Registration Only*** Thursday, June 7, 2018

Location: Wild Rock Outfitters
169 Charlotte St,
Peterborough, Ontario
K9J 2T7

Ride: 3:00pm to 8:15pm
Distance: 90-130km (Gravel & Paved Road Mix)
Dinner & Celebration: 8:15pm-11:30pm

Event Summary
In partnership with Wild Rock Outfitters in Peterborough, Ontario, we are thrilled to add a second event in 2018 to the FRETORI calendar. The idea behind the Wild Rock Sportive is to create a new cycling event experience, by incorporating an emerging style of riding with a celebration of cycling following the ride.

The Ride Itself
Unlike the Shimano Gran Fondo which begins on a Sunday morning, the Wild Rock Sportive will begin in the afternoon, at 3pm on a Saturday. Cyclists will ride a route that incorporates some of the finest roads in the Kawartha region, including gravel and road sections that will be challenging and yet absolutely stunning to ride. With the long daylight of summer, the scene is set to be remarkable.

Riders will complete 90-130km over a hilly parcours. When cyclists arrive back at Wild Rock Outfitters, we will have food, drinks and a fun interactive social evening planned from 8pm onwards.

The composition of the groups will be established through a distributed questionnaire following our registration deadline. We will work with every rider to ensure they ride with the group that is best suited to their abilities; faster, slower, longer or shorter – we will accommodate. This ride is about the experience of cycling with like-minded people.

The Packages
Beyond the ride and experience, we are also going to add value through our courtesy packages that every guest will receive upon arrival to the event. For the Wild Rock Sportive we are offering a slightly different program for our packages. Riders can look forward to fantastic ride packages for both the men and ladies. As a rule, we always strive to provide meaningful gifts that have real value and utility to them. For the Wild Rock Sportive we are aiming to keep costs reasonable because as a bonus after the event, for those who are interested, we will have a Wild Rock + FRETORI jersey – designed by the riders themselves, available for purchase following the event. More on that later!

Technical Info
Technical guides, courses and final detailed information will be available in May. If you have any questions about certain details, please check our “FAQ” section below. The steps to register can be found just below and if you still have a question, please do not hesitate to reach out to [email protected].

How to Register:

  1. Click on the “Wild Rock Sportive Registration” box.
  2. Click on either “Army Green Street Tee” or “Cyan Street Tee.”
  3. Scroll down, on the left, select your sock colour, sock size, gender for the tee & size.
  4. Read Waiver and check the box.
  5. Proceed to check-out and follow the steps from there.

*If you ordered a “Winter Package” apply your “PROMO CODE” in during the checkout process.*

About Wild Rock Outfitters & FRETORI Inc.
In the fall of 2015, after we left a meeting at Shimano Canada where we pitched the idea of hosting a Gran Fondo and they said, “yes,” we visited Wild Rock Outfitters as one of Shimano Canada’s key retail partners. We wanted to gauge their interest in supporting the FRETORI project. Without hesitation, they were in too. To say the least, that was massive for us. After two seasons of working closely Wild Rock to host the Shimano Gran Fondo with the highest standards in mind, we decided it was the perfect time to bring our supporters to their amazing retail store for a second event, with a different interactive experience and feel.
