24 Hour Ski Marathon for Mental Health

24 Hour Ski Marathon for Mental Health

Peterborough area skiers will be cross-country skiing over a 24-hour period Feb 26th–27th to raise funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge Mobile Mental Health and Addictions Clinic.

This event is supported by Wild Rock Outfitters and Kawartha Nordic Ski Club. The concept for the fundraiser originates with Wild Rock staff member and Kawartha Nordic board of directors member John Hauser. "I lost a cousin to suicide during the pandemic, I've also personally felt the toll of the pandemic on my own mental health, as I believe many others have,” says John. “After speaking with Jeff Cadence and Jack Vietch at CMHA HKPR about the Mobile Mental Health and Addictions Clinic, I felt this was a project I would like to get behind."

The Mobile Mental Health and Addictions Clinic will provide specialized mental health and addictions care to individuals in rural and remote areas within Peterborough and County, Northumberland, Haliburton, and Kawartha Lakes.
